Directory of Aid Agencies

Welcome!

Japan Disaster: Aid agencies brace for tsunami. Paul Conneally said “It was not clear whether Japan would request international assistance because its emergency services and civil defense mechanisms are highly developed, according to aid officials in Geneva.” http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/world/archives/2011/03/12/2003498009

Below is a general listing directory of some typical disaster response aid agencies (not intended to reflect a list of agencies deployed in Japan) .  Don’t see your group?  Please list it in comments with a link to your story and we’ll get you added.  Do you have something to offer or want to help the recovery effort?   Below are alot of agencies that could use volunteers.  You can be a virtual volunteer in many.

Three staff members from our partner, Peace Winds, distributed food and materials to earthquake survivors in Kesennuma City on Monday.

Here are some of the items they delivered via helicopter from Tokyo:

    •Balloon shelters
    •Emergency tents
    •Blankets
    •Cooking fuel
    •Tarpaulins
    •Pregelatinized rice
    •Bread
The team reports that heavy winds make it difficult to set up the balloon shelters, each of which hold 100 people.
